About me

Hello and welcome, I'm Valerie

I'm a counsellor offering individual counselling for women in a warm, respectful, and confidential environment.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, particularly during times of stress, transition, emotional overwhelm, or uncertainty. My intention is to create a therapeutic space where you feel safe to slow down, feel heard, and explore your experiences with compassion, curiosity, and without judgment.

My approach is grounded in connection, emotional safety, and understanding each person's unique story, values, and lived experience. I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels comfortable for you, supporting deeper self-awareness, emotional resilience, and meaningful change.

Training

Professional Background

I bring both professional training and multicultural lived experience to my work, which informs a relational, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approach to counselling.

I completed a Bachelor of Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Professions (three years full-time), including over 200 hours of supervised client placement experience.

During my placement, I was supervised by experienced practitioners with differing perspectives on counselling practice and professional development. Their guidance contributed to my understanding of ethical practice, reflective work, and the importance of developing confidence and authenticity as a practitioner.

Cultural sensitivity

Holding Your Whole Story

I recognise that our cultural background, relationships, identity, and life experiences can shape how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I aim to hold space for these parts of your story with care and respect.

Therapeutic approaches include:

Person-Centred TherapyDialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)Narrative TherapyTrauma-informed approaches

My work integrates evidence-informed therapeutic approaches with a gentle and attuned way of working, supporting clients through challenges such as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, relationship difficulties, burnout, identity concerns, and feelings of disconnection.

Above all, I believe counselling should feel supportive, collaborative, and grounded in genuine human connection — a space where you can reconnect with yourself with greater clarity, self-understanding, and steadiness.

How I work

My Approach

A safe and supportive space

I aim to provide a space that feels safe, supportive, and respectful, where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, with care, curiosity, and without judgment.

Culturally sensitive

I offer a culturally sensitive environment for women navigating life's challenges and seeking to reconnect with themselves, with care given to each woman's unique story, values, and background.

Gentle & evidence-informed

My approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and grounded in professional knowledge. I bring both an evidence-informed perspective and an attuned, relational way of working, supporting deeper understanding alongside meaningful change.

Body awareness

At times, our work may also include awareness of the body, as reconnecting with the body can support emotional regulation, grounding, and a greater sense of stability.

Above all, I believe counselling should feel supportive, collaborative, and grounded in genuine human connection — a space where you can reconnect with yourself with greater clarity, self-understanding, and steadiness.

Who I work with

Who I Work With

I specialise in working with women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who are navigating life's challenges and looking for a space where they feel heard, understood, and supported.

This includes women experiencing periods of transition in areas such as relationships, identity, family roles, or hormonal changes, when emotional, physical, or internal shifts may feel more present.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, emotionally exhausted, or carrying a lot on your own, and looking for a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels safe and respectful of your story.
